Major Duties
Under general supervision, the postdoctoral researcher/scholar will work to understand the effectiveness of the NIH-funded BUILD program, which includes (1) undergraduate researcher training, and (2) faculty resources and mentor training, and institutional equity. The postdoctoral researcher/scholar will devote 75% effort to research and 25% to teaching BUILD-related professional development and/or research methods courses.
Undergraduate Research Training. The postdoctoral researcher/scholar will study different components of the undergraduate research-training program, BUILD PODER. They will assist in writing manuscripts of the extant data from the student training core initiatives, including the entry to research program - Summer JumpStart training, bimonthly meetings, and professional development curriculum and to compare local data with consortium-wide data. Other responsibilities include attending programmatic meetings, attending student-focused functions, and presenting results at professional meetings. The postdoctoral researcher/scholar will also be able to advance his or her own career goals through independent or other collaborative research with available research funds.
Faculty Resources and Mentor Training. The postdoctoral researcher/scholar will support write-up of local data regarding mentor training, pilot projects, Faculty Scholar Academy, community college initiatives, and to begin to, when appropriate, draw upon the consortium data resources around support for faculty mentors. Other responsibilities include, data analyses, writing publications, attending programmatic meetings, attending student-focused functions, faculty-focused functions, and presenting results at professional meetings. The postdoctoral scholar will also be able to advance his or her own career goals through independent or other collaborative research with available research funds.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD in Psychology, higher education, science education, or other relevant discipline.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Applicants should be proficient in mixed research methods (e.g., interviewing skills, running focus groups), and qualitative statistical analyses (e.g., SPSS. SEM) and qualitative analyses (e.g., Grounded Theory, Content Analysis, Participatory Action Research). It is recommended for the applicants to have a background in Critical Race Theory (CRT) and related theories. An excellent publication record as well as strong writing and verbal communication skills are important criteria for selection.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC). TUC offers an excellent benefits package. The anticipated hiring maximum is $55,000 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience. Work schedule is Full-time Monday - Friday.
