Alarming statistics about date rape and sexual assault among Deaf and Hard of Hearing women and men are two to three times higher than in the general population! This workshop will include a 30 minute presentation and discussion about how to empower ourselves and our friends in preventing date rape and sexual assault. Following the presentation, there will be a 90 minute participatory demonstration on learning self defense tips and skills with Peggie Reyna, a Deaf survivor, and Laura Riplinger, a CODA, from Peace Over Violence.
