Sibling Alumni Create Awards for Accounting and Finance Students in Mother’s Memory

David Nazarian College of Business and Economics alumni and siblings Andrea Zoeckler ’83 (Business Administration) and Richard Schweitzer ’87 (Accounting Theory and Practice / Finance), have created the Suzanne Schweitzer Zaret Outstanding Student Awards for the top students in Accounting and Finance in memory of their mother, Suzanne Schweitzer.
These awards will be given to an outstanding graduating senior in each of the college’s accounting and finance departments. Students will be nominated and chosen by department faculty.
“We are very grateful for the education we received at the Nazarian College and all the opportunities it provided us,” said Zoeckler and Schweitzer. “We both went to graduate school after attending CSUN and we felt we were among the best-prepared students in our classes and it was our CSUN education that provided that.”
“Our mother deeply understood the importance of education and this truly honors her memory by acknowledging those who have achieved excellence in their studies. She would be so honored to know that high-achieving students are being recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in her name.”
Zoeckler and Schweitzer have previously supported the college’s various activities and program. The siblings also serve as members of the Nazarian College Advisory Board.
About Andrea Zoeckler
Andrea Zoeckler is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Epson America, a subsidiary of Seiko Epson Corporation. In her role as CFO and COO of Epson America, Ms. Zoeckler oversees all North American and South America operations. Zoeckler was also appointed to the role of Executive Officer of the $10 billion Seiko Epson Corporation, the first woman named to this position in Seiko Epson's long and impressive history. Zoeckler earned a degree in Business Administration from CSUN and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She is a Certified Public Accountant in California, and a member of the American lnstitute of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Zoeckler is also a member of the Nazarian College’s Advisory Board.
About Richard Schweitzer
Richard Schweitzer is a dedicated alumnus of the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics. In addition to being a long and loyal philanthropic supporter of his alma mater, Schweitzer also serves as the Chair of the Nazarian College's Advisory Board and on the Board of the CSUN Foundation. Schweitzer began his career in public accounting immediately following his graduation. His experience evolved into an Impressive career in the finance industry. Schweitzer earned degrees in Accounting and Finance from CSUN and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
