BA in Dance
The BA in Dance (62 units) provides a broad-based liberal arts program and promotes the value of dance at the individual, community, and society level. Students enrolled in the BA in Dance will acquire practical skills and fundamental knowledge related to a variety of dance techniques, critically and creatively investigate concepts within the larger domains of dance, demonstrate and practice cultural and body literacy, generate and perform creative dance works, and critically identify, analyze, interpret, reflect and evaluate dance works and skills.
Minor In Dance
The minor in Dance is designed to provide a basis for dance experience and potential employment opportunities in the field of performance, choreography and teaching. In order to prepare for the professional demands of dance, there are five domains in the dance minor: technique, pedagogy, world dance/cultural diversity, choreography and production.
BS in Kinesiology, Dance Option
The word kinesiology comes from the Greek word kinesis, which means to move. Kinesiology is the study of the art and science of human movement. The discipline of kinesiology is dedicated to the study of human movement and physical activity as it relates to sport, dance and exercise.
Classes for all CSUN Students
All dance courses are open to every CSUN student. If you have no background in dance then consider taking a one unit level one course. If you have some experience in dance then you can receive instructor permission and register in a higher level dance course without completing the pre-requisite courses. Please reach out to request a permission number whenever you wish to take an upper division or upper-level dance course. Some dance technique courses can be taken twice for credit.
All CSUN dancers are welcome to audition for the fall and spring dance concerts and can acquire course credit if registered in DANC 426 Choreography, DANC 427 Dance Production and/or DANC 498WC Dance Concert Modes
