College Information
The Michael D. Eisner College of Education epitomizes the excitement surrounding California State University, Northridge. Last year the College became the recipient of a substantial gift from the Michael D. Eisner Foundation. The intention of this gift was to provide funding for the creation of The Center for Teaching and Learning whose initial focus is student assessment and achievement. California State University, Northridge was also selected by the Carnegie Corporation, to participate in the Teachers for a New Era Initiative. $5 million dollars has been awarded to CSUN in order to redesign the University's teacher preparation program, the ultimate goal being the creation of exemplary teacher preparation models that can be used throughout the United States. During these years the College has implemented several pathways to the achievement of teaching credentials. In one of these formats, our students are able to pursue and complete the requirements of a teaching credential in one year. The College works closely with the surrounding school districts in providing teaching interns with a fast paced program to the completion of their credentials. Presently, we are experiencing unusual demand for all of our programs. As a result, the Michael D. Eisner College of education has experienced unprecedented growth. During the past 6 years, the Michael D. Eisner College of Education has almost doubled its enrollment. These are just a few of the exciting things taking place at the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.
