Interactive Game Development

Course/materials fee: Session 1 $40, Session 2 $35

Course Description:

In this course, students will learn about the art of storytelling in video games, role-playing games, board games, and other interactive media.  They will then practice applying these concepts by working on their own interactive ideas.  The curriculum will explore theories, principles and mechanics of interactive narratives, covering such topics as world-building, non-player characters, the player’s journey, themes, tone, and more.  The course will also include tutorials on simple software programs for designing interactive non-linear narratives.  By completion, every student will have a chance to design, create, and workshop their own interactive project that they then can bring home to enjoy with friends and family.
