Course Description: Design and create your own custom phone holder, prototype a new invention, or even engineer solutions to real-world problems in your community! Functional 3D Printing and Design will introduce students to the world of additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping through 3D printing. Students enrolled in this course will learn to design and modify 3D models in free web-based applications (Tinkercad and Onshape). Students will get hands-on experience working with desktop FDM printers as they bring their designs to life using this rapid manufacturing technique. Students will engage in the engineering design cycle as they engage in problem-based learning. Additionally, students will have opportunities to engage in teamwork and develop computer skills and critical thinking.
