Valley Trauma Center has received a new $30,000 grant from the Northridge Hospital Community Board! These funds will be used to develop a child trauma curriculum and play activities for children who are brought to the center immediately following the disclosure of sexual abuse. These children often arrive at the center with their siblings and caregivers in the midst of a crisis. The curriculum and activities will assist advocates, forensic nurse examiners and law enforcement in mediating psychological trauma through the use of structured play known to facilitate emotional self regulation, while also developing a sense of safety and trust between the child and members of the response team.
