Strength United is pleased to announce a California Office of Emergency Services award in the amount of $742, 272 for expansion of programming at our Family Justice Center. The award will allow increased opportunities for MFT students to obtain experience working within a multi-disciplinary team setting. The Family Justice Center is the first of its kind in Los Angeles County providing critical services to individuals of all ages who have experienced child maltreatment, domestic violence or sexual assault in their lifetime.
As part of the funding, SU will collaborate with campus partners to host community convening to address the complexity of domestic violence, its root causes, strategies to break the cycle of violence and promote trauma informed practices for those that have been affected. MFT students providing services through the proposal will receive specific training in trauma informed care, crisis intervention, case review, trauma counseling to individuals, families, couples, children and youth.
Jennifer Vargas Pemberton, PhD and Kim Goldberg Roth, LMFT are the co-pi’s on the project.
