Our next APSS quarterly training is scheduled for August 20, 2015 from 10:00am - 12:30pm in the large training room at the FJC. We have partnered with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), which is the organization that will be presenting on "Parents and Teachers as Allies". This free training will address the challenges and aspects surrounding those living with mental illness & those caring for loved ones living with mental illness. The presentation will cover early warning signs and symptoms of various mental health conditions, keys to early recognition, treatment options, how to become an ally with your loved one's teacher, recognizing the family stages of adaptation, and how to deal with the trauma of mental illness. Additionally, we have a couple speakers joining us to share their personal story and experience - a parent of a child with mental illness and an individual living with mental illness. Various resources will be provided for the participants as well. Anyone who would like to register for the training can send an e-mail to .
