The Struggle to Desegregate L.A.'s Schools, 1940-1970
Thursday, May 17 2018 7:00PM - 9:00PM
White Americans have historically been resistant and opposed to having their children go to school with Latino and African American children. What factors other than race have made desegregated schools so difficult to achieve in Los Angeles? Guest speaker: David L. Moguel, Ph.D., Professor of Secondary Education, California State University, Northridge.
He will feature one of the lessons from the Tom & Ethel Bradley Center Digital History Project, a new curriculum providing access to thousands of photographs digitized with the assistance of a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, video and audio oral interviews, maps and interesting ideas for classroom activities.
