Dr. Joshua Einhorn (MDECOE Grants Officer) was awarded the Jolene Koester Presidential Scholarship for 2024-2025 academic year. The scholarship will assist Dr. Einhorn in his completing his Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) MA certificate program. He will use his newfound linguistic and pedagogical skills and expertise to teach in India, where English is a second language to a multi-lingual population speaking Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, and more.
Specifically, in the coming years he plans to teach:
- English and yoga to elementary age children in Bodh Gaya, India
- Business proposal writing to MBA students in Gaya College and Madagh University – an all-female college in Gaya, India
- Grant writing to Dasra members Dasra (dasra.org) is a clearinghouse for India’s NGOs (non-governmental organizations – AKA “nonprofits”). These NGOs work to eradicate poverty, uplift women, provide sanitation to India’s cities and villages, and even protect animals injured on the street. He will help NGO staff learn the lingo and skills of grant writing (e.g., RFP, institutionalization, logic model, etc.) and how to apply to entities like The Gates Foundation.
His volunteer work in India will be karma yoga (“selfless service”). He plans to devote the latter part of his life to this selfless service.
