We are proud that the Michael D. Eisner College of Education remains one of the largest Colleges of Education in the CSU system, providing to our surrounding communities hundreds of outstanding new professionals in the fields of education, counseling, administration, and Deaf Studies. The Eisner College engages in transformative education and initiatives that put into practice our commitment to social justice, equity, access, and inclusion, and supporting the social-emotional well-being of university, school, and community members. I am grateful to our talented faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners, all instrumental in ensuring the excellence of our educational programs and community-serving centers. We have reason to be proud as we prepare our students to make positive contributions to our world!

International Week of Deaf People: Kaila Cruz

International Week of Deaf People, also known as Deaf Awareness Week, is an initiative that was established by World Federation of the Deaf and first launched in Rome, Italy in 1958. The goal of the initiative is to celebrate Deaf people. This celebration takes place annually in September. The theme for 2023’s International week of Deaf People is A World Where Deaf People Everywhere Can Sign Anywhere. In support of International Week of Deaf People, the Michael D. Eisner College of Education and the department of Deaf Studies is proud to highlight Kaila Cruz, one of our all-star students majoring in Deaf Studies.  Read more

Eisner College Receives $400k Grant From Eisner Foundation

We are excited to share that the Eisner College has received a general operating grant in the amount of $400,000 over the next two years to serve the diverse educational needs of the Eisner college, local region and beyond! This is the third grant of it’s amount and kind that we have received from the Eisner Foundation, totaling $1.2 million to support essential programs in the college. We are immensely grateful for this gift! Read more

Introducing Colleen Smith

Colleen Smith

Colleen Smith is a new faculty member in the Department of Special Education. Colleen graduated from Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. with a B.A. in Communication Arts, San Diego State University with a M.A. in ASL-English Multicultural Education, and Claremont Graduate University-SDSU with a Ph.D. in Education- Policy Studies in Language & Cross-Cultural Education.
