We are proud that the Michael D. Eisner College of Education remains one of the largest Colleges of Education in the CSU system, providing to our surrounding communities hundreds of outstanding new professionals in the fields of education, counseling, administration, and Deaf Studies. The Eisner College engages in transformative education and initiatives that put into practice our commitment to social justice, equity, access, and inclusion, and supporting the social-emotional well-being of university, school, and community members. I am grateful to our talented faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners, all instrumental in ensuring the excellence of our educational programs and community-serving centers. Minimizing the COVID Slide During the Summer

Many parents and educators are worried about a “COVID slide”, where students fail to retain any new information learned before and during the pandemic — as well as over the summer, when students are not in school. Families with more resources may have a way of halting that slide and actually help their children retain what they learned during the past academic year, according to California State University, Northridge special education professor Wendy Murawski, executive director and Eisner Endowed Chair for the Center for Teaching and Learning in the Michael D. Outstanding Pandemic Teaching Award

From close to 200 teachers who were nominated for the award, we selected 20 teachers as demonstrating outstanding teaching during the spring 2020 school shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 virus. These teachers show ingenuity, persistence, compassion and most of all dedication to their students and to learning. Check out the winners!
