Today, organizations confront a common, often overlooked hurdle: ensuring the accessibility of digital documents. These documents, ubiquitously created by various personnel, can inadvertently become barriers on websites and intranets. This session delves into the strategies progressive organizations are employing to ensure that documents are born accessible and undergo rigorous testing before gracing public or internal platforms.
While prevalent tools like Microsoft Office are designed to champion accessibility, they can equally be the culprits behind inaccessible documents if mismanaged. So, how does an organization inventory and manage its vast digital documentation? There is a solution for the daunting volume of documents requiring accessibility fine-tuning. Once the creation machinery is in motion, content creators can independently verify accessibility.
Gauging the success of these initiatives is pivotal and includes using the right metrics and milestones.
By spotlighting real-world initiatives across both public and private sectors, we intend to showcase tangible blueprints. These examples will shed light on their end-to-end approach, from auditing and remediation to fostering an environment of accessible content creation and the pivotal step of success measurement.
Join us as we unravel the journey of organizations that have steered their way to creating an all-encompassing accessible document strategy, setting benchmarks for others to emulate.
