As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing health equity research, leadership, and mentorship at CSUN, BUILD PODER has been hosting workshop series that focuses on collaboration/communication, grant writing, and research skills for spring 2024. Training in these areas across the NIH BUILD sites are aligned with research productivity in important ways (Hiatt et al., 2022).
These workshops have supported faculty participants with:
- Acquiring practical skills and strategies that could be immediately applied to their research and leadership roles.
- Networking with peers and engage in collaborative discussion to share best practices.
- Gaining valuable insights from experienced facilitators that support their Retention, Tenure, & Promotion (RTP) trajectory.

- Collaborating and Connecting Across Differences: Build your muscles of connection, communication, and collaboration with the Virginia Tech Center for Communicating Science.

Funding: $625 stipend for each participant who completed all sessions (funds may be provided as conference travel funding upon request) - Demystifying NIH Supplements: A virtual workshop about NIH supplement programs such as diversity supplements, re-entry and re-integrating supplements, and life-event supplements with the Program Director of the NIGMS Division of Training, Workforce Development and Diversity, Dr. Shakira Nelson.
