CSUN Receives $40 Million From Bezos Ex-Wife

Cal State Northridge announced Tuesday that it received a $40 million from philanthropist and author MacKenzie Scott and her husband, Dan Jewett. Scott, who was once married to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and is worth around $59 billion, gave the university the largest individual donation in its 63-year-history. -- Northridge-Chatsworth Patch

In California, the recipients include UC Merced, California State University campuses at Pomona, Fullerton, Northridge and Channel Islands as well as California Community Colleges in Long Beach, Pasadena and Santa Barbara. Other recipients include Homeboy Industries, which helps rehabilitate formerly incarcerated people or those involved with gangs; Faith in Action, a national organizing network against hate and racism; and the L.A.
