James “Jim” Purtee drove from Chatsworth to La Mirada to attend the “Proof of Life” lunch on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Jim worked as a Housing Planner in the City of Simi Valley starting in 1988. In 1999 he was appointed Deputy City Manager in Simi Valley, and in 2006 he took the Director of Administrative Services position. Jim was appointed to the Simi Valley Assistant City Manager and Government Affairs position in 2012. Jim was recruited to serve as the City Manager in the City of Palmdale starting in 2015. Jim retired in 2019. He earned a BA and Masters from California State University, Northridge. He received a 30- year ICMA Award in 2018. Vallejo Director of Water. -- Public CEO

Alex Ordoñez Named Marketing Manager For Group One Limited

Ordoñez comes to Group One from MatchMySound, where he held the title of sales and marketing, enterprise. Prior to that, he spent 16 years in various marketing capacities with Alfred Music, most recently serving as vice president of sales and marketing. He also spent five years with the U.A. Titan of finance was hardly written in Fink’s stars. He was born on November 2, 1952, and grew up in Van Nuys, a nondescript neighbourhood in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. His father owned a shoe store while his mother was an English professor at California State University’s Northridge campus. Larry didn’t do as well academically as his older brother, so he had to help out at his father’s shop – a chore his more gifted sibling was exempted from. -- AFR
