Big West basketball season begins amid new wave of COVID-19 issues

UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Cal Poly and Hawaii are the four schools directly affected. The Anteaters were scheduled to open the 2021 conference season on Thursday night against Cal State Northridge and Saturday against UC Santa Barbara. Both games have been declared no contests per conference rules because of outbreaks in the Anteater program. -- Los Angeles Daily News

I have autism, and it made me the sports reporter I am

During college at CSUN, I had learned from a kinesiology professor how to control my anxiety and overcome the feelings of overstimulation. She told me to close my eyes and visualize a happy moment in my life. She said: "Focus on it and make it so vivid that it's like you are in your own time machine and concentrate for 30 seconds." This method allowed me to be more comfortable in situations that caused overstimulation, like driving. -- Record Searchlight

In South L.A., the battle to stay ahead of the mental health turnstile never ends

After high school, Felix enrolled at Cal State Northridge and majored in psychology, hoping to return and help her community in South L.A. She had gone to white therapists whom she simply couldn’t connect with because they didn’t understand her background. Santillan to tackle infrastructure, housing as Selma's new city manager

A: I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance from California State University, Northridge. I started in government with the City of Fresno in the Economic Development Department because I wanted to help businesses grow and create jobs in the Central Valley. I was also part of the Fresno County Economic Development Corporation, where I helped attract businesses to Fresno County from all over the world. From there, I developed an interest in City Planning and eventually became the Community Development Director at the City of Avenal, where I worked for six years before coming to Selma. -- Hanford Sentinel
