Drunken Monkey' Hypothesis: These Spider Monkeys Eat Alcohol-Containing Fruits For Energy

The study was led by researchers at California State University, Northridge (CUSN), who collected fruit eaten and discarded by black-handed spider monkeys (Ateles geoffroyi) in Panama. The alcohol concentration in the fruit was typically between one to two per cent by volume, a by-product of natural fermentation by yeasts that eat sugar in ripening fruit, the researchers found. -- ABP Live

The UCSB women’s tennis team beat both UC Riverside and CSU Northridge 4-0 in a Saturday doubleheader at the Arnhold Tennis Center. Edgewater Names New Police Chief: Eric S. Sonstegard

He holds a B.S. degree in Administration of Justice from California Lutheran University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge. In the summer of 2013, he served as a youth counselor at the F.B.I.N.A.A Youth Leadership Program at Quantico, Virginia. He was born and raised in Ventura County and has three children with his wife, Carrie, who is a kindergarten teacher.
