Governor Newsom Announces Judicial Appointments 11.7.22
Michael Bishay, 56, of Contra Costa County, has been appointed to serve in an interim appointment as a Judge in the Alameda County Superior Court. Bishay has served as a Commissioner at the Alameda County Superior Court since 2018. He served as a Commissioner and Supervising Judicial Officer of Family Law at the San Bernardino County Superior Court from 2014 to 2018 and was a Sole Practitioner from 2001 to 2014. Bishay earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School and a Master of Education degree from California State University, Northridge. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Yolanda Northridge. The Governor’s appointment allows him to immediately assume the position he was otherwise elected to begin in January 2023. Bishay is a Democrat. -- CA.gov

Student Wellness Unbounded: Recreation and Wellness Taking New Forms
California State University Northridge (CSUN) is creating a new Basic Needs Suite on its campus. In 2019, CSUN conducted a food security survey and found 48% of their students had low or very low food security. However, many students hadn’t used the campus food pantry due to barriers of stigma, lack of information, etc. The revitalization of the CSUN student union created an exciting opportunity to resolve these issues in the form of the Basic Needs Suite which not only provides students with the resources they need, but does so with an imbued sense of care and dignity. -- Campus Rec Magazine

CSUN men’s basketball team hopes time is on its side
It’s hard not to bring up Bobby Braswell when speaking about the Cal State Northridge men’s basketball program. Braswell led the program to two NCAA Tournaments in his 17 seasons as the coach of the Matadors, his last being the 2012-13 campaign. -- Los Angeles Times
