AFFTA Board of Directors Candidates
Fast forward after my Cal State Northridge business major years, and I read an ad for an available customer service job at a fly fishing reel manufacturer in Camarillo, CA. After several interviews amongst a great deal of competitors for the position, I was offered the role by Steve Abel on the condition that I attend an 8 week fly fishing course through a local college. Amazingly, that was over 25 years ago, and over that time I have been groomed from a customer service representative to my current position as the EVP for Abel, and the director of sales and marketing for Abel and Ross Reels upon the Ross brand acquisition several years ago. -- Angling Trade
Parents and donors sue Buena Park non-profit special-needs school
Steve was born on a farm in Iowa, but he grew up in Southern California. Steve served in the military before entering California State University, Northridge, where he received his degree in accounting. He had his CPA license and was running his own CPA firm when he met Aleen Agranowitz. It was a truly magical moment and they spoke for over an hour. She inspired him and started him on his road to SLDC. Steve has been able to serve SLDC in financial leadership for over 25 years. He has a special connection with people with special needs, having had an aunt that lived with “what is now called Autism” until she was 94. He sees the value in what SLDC does and is proud to be a member of the team. -- Orange County Breeze
Obituary: Janet Tascona Lange
By the time Janet had turned 17, she was working as a clerk at Alpha Beta in Calabasas. Working her way through classes at Pierce College, she met some very memorable friends on the swim team, and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from CSUN. Between classes and work, she would often sneak a much needed break away to her favorite sailing destination, Smugglers Cove, Santa Cruz Island. Before graduating from college, she became a naturalized U.S. Citizen. -- The Malibu Times
