Soup’r Bowl Food Drive for CSUN Food Pantry: The Community Concerns Committee at First Presbyterian Church of Granada Hills holds a non-perishable food drive to help stock the food pantry at Cal State University, Northridge, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 10 and also, 8:30-11 a.m. Feb. 11. The pantry benefits students who do not have much income for food while school is in session (CSUN Food Pantry, bit.ly/3ch6IRl). Current needs: canned and dry packaged goods, and also, hygiene/personal care products may be donated. No glass containers or expired dates. CSU teachers, other workers launch week-long strike amid salary dispute

The CFA said its strike would begin at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, with picket lines at all campuses. Southern California schools affected include Cal State Los Angeles, Long Beach, Northridge, Dominguez Hills, Channel Islands, Fullerton, San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona. -- Los Angeles Daily News

Cal State faculty strike across all 23 campuses in historic labor walkout

All campuses except San Francisco State, where spring term starts next week, are encouraging students to report their instructors if they canceled classes this week, according to a CalMatters review of campus websites. “If a class or service is cancelled, you are welcome to share that information with us here so that we can best assure continuity and fulfillment of instruction,” Cal State Northridge wrote to students, using language common across all the other campuses that are asking students for that information. -- CalMatters

Diavolo – Existencia: The “architecture in motion” dance group performs the world premiere of the dance to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1994 Northridge Earthquake, 8 p.m. Jan. 19. The performance includes a musical score by drummer Antonio Sánchez, a live performance by vocalist Thana Alexa and an aerial performance choreographed by Bandaloop and performed by Amelia Rudolf (founder of the “vertical dance company”). The dance piece was commissioned and produced by the Soraya. Tickets $39 and up.
