BWW Review: DEAR WORLD Concert Reading Beguiles at VPAC

Thank you to David Lee for his even staging, and to Darryl Archibald, fine musical director who conducted the wonderful 25 piece orchestra. There was also Acasola, CSUN's first a cappella choir of 17 young voices. Bravo to one and all! -- Broadway World Los Angeles

Spock: Half-Vulcan, half-human, all outsider role model

In the “Biracial and Multiracial Identity” class she teaches at California State University, Northridge, Teresa Williams-León, a professor of Asian-American studies, includes the stories of Spock; Barack Obama (a self-avowed Spock fan); and Tabitha, the half-mortal daughter on Bewitched. For Williams-León, there’s something telling about Spock’s need to choose one of his selves over the other, rather than integrating the two. “He had to subdue his emotional side to become more cerebral and logical,” she said. “So that’s problematic. But it’s an interesting way of looking at how biracial people have had to suppress aspects of themselves, or one part of themselves.” - The Malay Mail - Malaysia

Finish in Four’ is new mantra for California State University

CSU Northridge has seen more of its students passing remedial math after integrating workshops into the course that teach students how to change their response to failure and reduce test anxiety. Remedial classes are not offered for credit and can therefore become a roadblock to progressing toward a degree. -- Sacramento Bee
