Art Galleries at California State University Northridge – West Gallery: “iwitness: Narratives of Resistance,” a multimedia exhibit including portraits and oral history from survivors of the 1915-23 genocide of the Western Armenian population — organized by artists Ara Oshagan and Levon Parian, whose families are from Western Armenia. Gallery hours: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Tuesday; noon-7 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday; by appointment Friday-Saturday; closed on Sunday and on campus holidays. Exhibit runs through Oct. 22. Use parking lot E6 (parking permit, $10.45, at the lot’s self-serve dispensers). Dr. Armond Aghakhanian Announces Re-Election Campaign for Burbank School Board

Dr. Aghakhanian is the former President of the Armenian American Chamber of Commerce, a former Board member of the Armenian Relief Center, a former member of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry Advisory Board, a former California State University Northridge’s Armenian Student Association Executive Board member, co-founder of the USANOUGH periodical of the Armenian Students News Media and longtime member of the Homenetmen Burbank “Sipan” Chapter where his son, Arameh, is a scout. -- Asbarez

Food Drive for CSUN Food Pantry: The Community Concerns Committee at First Presbyterian Church of Granada Hills holds a non-perishable food drive to help stock the food pantry at Cal State University, Northridge 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and also 8:30-11 a.m. Sept. 22. The pantry benefits students who do not have much income for food while school is in session (CSUN Food Pantry, tinyurl.com/ysw6k5n5). Donations of canned and dry packaged goods, and also, hygiene/personal care products, are needed. No glass containers or expired dates. In-Person Casual Conversation with Ven. Pomnyun Sunim in 2024

Venerable Pomnyun Sunim, winner of the 2002 Ramon Magsaysay award for Peace and International Understanding and the 2020 Niwano Peace Prize (for advocating peace with the North Korean people and sustainable development initiatives in Bhutan, North Korea, India, Philippines, and Indonesia), will be hosting a Dharma talk on how a person can handle difficult situations they face in life using the Buddha's teachings at the Orchard Conference Center in Cal State University Northridge campus. Audience members may bring questions they would like to discuss with Venerable Pomnyun. Any topic can be addressed. Examples of questions being asked include, "How do I handle stress at school?" "How do I help my spouse's alcoholism?" or "How do I help my kid study better?" The monk is quite well known in South Korea for doing these talks. --Patch
