Receptive Language includes Transduction, Perception, Symbolization and Conceptualization processes.
For Receptive Language we still must take into account within each modality, those processes we have been discussing:
Transduction, and
- Perception, and
- Symbolization, and
- Conceptualization.
Let me summarize, and review briefly, the impact of these processes when they fail.
For the Auditory Modality, problems with the transduction process is referred to as hard of hearing or deaf. Perceptual problems are often referred to in the literature as Auditory, Visual or Haptic processing disorders.
The impact of a failure in these processes is to cause various degrees of confusion and inefficiency in decoding (understanding) stimuli.
