Ledges is the most exposed site of the twelve sites on Swan's Island. The site faces to the southwest and is near the entrance of Toothacker Cove. The shore composed of mostly large boulders and is dominated by Ascophyllum. The intertidal zone is a wide and ranges from 50 to 75 m wide. It is also very irregular with many pools and outcrops. Barnacle and mussels are rare. Fucus is more common here than at the other sites. Ledges does not appear to receive ice scour.
