Grace faces to the northeast on the western shore of Mackerel Cove and is near the head of the Cove. The rocky portion of the intertidal shore is about 20 m wide and is a mixture of boulders, granite ledges, and muddy patches. Below this rocky strip is a wide intertidal mud flat from which soft shelled clams (Mya) are harvested. The rocks and ledges are dominated by Ascophyllum; patches of mussels are common on the low intertidal mud flats. Barnacles are rare. Water flows are very low and sedimentation is common. This section of Mackerel Cove often freezes over in the winter and ice is common on the shore.
