Bob faces to the southeast and is on the western shore of Mackerel Cove. The intertidal shore is quite narrow - less than 25 m - and is dominated by a series of sloping granite outcrops interspersed with small cobble washes. The granite outcrops are relatively smooth with few cracks. The mid zone is dominated by Ascophyllum and the low zone by barnacles and mussels.
