The CSUN Geology department has held departmental field trips since 1974. There are Fall Field Frolics and Spring Flings. The spring trips started in 1974 with a trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. They are hosted
primarily by the
Geology Club. The fall trips started in 1983 with a trip to Death Valley. They have been
conducted, uninterrupted, for the past 12 years. These are hosted by members of the faculty and staff. We
have records of 25 fall trips and 22 spring trips. Of the fall trips, 21 have extensive field guide books and the
spring trips have 18 guide books.
