As finals season approaches, the Writing Center is hosting Writer's Block Rumble to provide students with a time and space dedicated to to completing those final writing projects!

Students will be able to work in a quiet space in the presence of Peer Writing Specialists and Writing SI Leaders who are available to answer quick* questions, provide quick feedback, and bounce ideas off of. This opportunity may be particularly helpful to students who work best when body-doubling or when held accountable by the peers around them.Students are encouraged to bring their own devices, but we can loan devices out as needed while students work in the center.

Rules:

  • Students MUST be working on something
  • Students can stay for as long as they’d like as long as a tutor is still on shift
  • Students can leave & come back (would need to check in again)
  • Students cannot treat it like a normal 1-on-1 session
  • Proof of attendance can be provided upon request
  • Students don’t have to ask any questions and just work in silence if they’d like

*What counts as a “quick” question?

  • How to cite a specific source
  • How to apply a type of formatting to their paper
  • Feedback on a thesis statement
  • Sentence clarity
  • 1-paragraph review
  • Brainstorming
  • Assignment prompt clarification
