On Friday, April 17, CSUN’s Office of Community Engagement will host an End-of-Year Research and Service Symposium to recognize the exemplary work and outstanding achievements of our students and faculty over the last academic year. This Symposium will take place from 2:00-4:00pm in the USU Thousand Oaks Room. All participating students will receive a certificate of recognition, and the top presenters, as judged by a committee of faculty members, will be awarded prizes.
In addition to the faculty and students who have participated in service-learning courses over the last year, the symposium will be recognizing our community partners for their committed, innovative work with our students and in the community.
Service Learning Faculty are encouraged to nominate students (up to three student groups per class) to attend. The deadline for student nominations is Monday, March 30, at 5 pm. All nominations should be submitted by emailed to Joyce Burstein (joyce.burstein@csun.edu) and Danielle Spratt (danielle.spratt@csun.edu), and include the following information: faculty name, course title, student name(s), and the project title. Before nominating a student, please ensure that they can meet the following criteria.
Criteria For Applying:
- Students must have participated in a service-learning project in the last academic year.
- Students must present their engaged coursework via a poster or PowerPoint.
Our office will be circulating templates for successful presentation in the coming weeks. Please note that we will be hosting an optional workshop for faculty who have nominated students during the first week of April.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Symposium or the nomination process, please contact the Office of Community Engagement.
