Basic Responsibilities
- Serve as faculty director of technology for the MDECOE
- Serve as faculty advisor for technology-related issues
- Serve as liaison for technology and web-related resources to EFAC
- Serve as technical & faculty advisor for MDECOE web developer
- Oversee integrity of MDECOE websites
- Serve as faculty advisor for MDECOE network administrator
- Provide training for faculty in the use of new technologies with educational applications
- Develop budget for MDECOE technology
- Oversee purchasing of hardware and software for the MDECOE
- Attend and present at Professional Meetings related to IT/education issues
- Work with network administrators and ITR to ensure excellent hardware, software, Internet and Intranet resources in labs
Goals
- Upgrade the MDECOE website
- Establish web presence for all MDECOE courses
- Upgrade faculty websites to enhance student / faculty communication
- Work to get all classes have a web-presence on an Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle
- Convert MDECOE websites to Content Management Systems (CMS) so end users can make necessary changes. Initially deploy Contribute and move towards Drupal or similar CMS.
- Provide Virtual Software Environments – Work with IT to provide faculty and students access to high-end development software (e.g. Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Premiere, etc.) in a virtual environment
