Although the CSUN Department of Police Services does not promote any one commercial product, in the interest of crime prevention we are offering this list of safety apps and theft recovery programs that have been produced by software developers to help keep you and your property safe.

Campus Sentinel
Campus Sentinel is a FREE mobile app for the iPhone and iPad that provides campus crime statistics for more than 4,400 colleges and universities, safety resources, and security news and information. During the application process, use it to understand crime and safety information for the schools you’re considering and to compare those schools’ self-reported crime data to one another. Once you’re enrolled, the app is a great resource for questions regarding safety and security issues both on and off campus.
OnWatch
Winner of the Department of Health & Human Services Apps Against Abuse Technology Challenge. EmergenSee

Neighborhood Watch
The Neighborhood Watch App has dynamic reporting capabilities including options to add photos and text to reports from Block Captains, volunteers, or from citizens who want to report anonymously. Linked to a proprietary database of law enforcement agencies from throughout the country, the Neighborhood Watch App enables citizens to report crime concerns, suspicious activities and community disorder.

FBI’s Child ID App
Simply download the free FBI mobile application from the App Store on iTunes, add the latest photos of our child, enter key information about him or her, and update it regularly. In the unlikely event that your child goes missing, you can quickly e-mail the photos and information to authorities. The app also includes safety advice and checklists for parents. And please be assured, no information about you or your child will be collected or stored by the FBI or iTunes.
