In today’s world, being able to write well is a requirement for every career our students will embark on in the future. Unlike in the past, the present day K-12 educational system no longer prepares students for all of the writing they are required to do in college. Thus, it is our responsibility to ensure that our classes enhance our student’s writing skills, even if they are not writing courses. When you make writing a priority in your classes, questions often arise such as: What are some of the most common mistakes students make in their writing? Are these mistakes unique to my class? How do you convey these mistakes to the students in a positive, constructive, and effective manner? How do you offer effective feedback if you are teaching large class sections? Overall, how do you ensure that your students’ writing progresses over the course of the semester? This workshop will answer these questions and more by offering several creative strategies on how to help your students become better writers through your feedback.
