The minor in Jewish Studies requires 18 units of coursework. Many of the courses overlap with GE requirements, and some count toward majors in other programs or departments. Students often find that the Jewish Studies minor complements and deepens their studies in other fields.

By completing a minor in Jewish Studies, students will be able to:

  1. Describe major themes, characters, literary works and events of Jewish life in different international settings and historical periods.
  2. Describe and analyze the significant interactions between Jewish cultures and their surrounding cultures over time.
  3. Describe and analyze the ways political, economic and cultural forces have shaped and continue to shape Jewish cultural developments.
