Felicia Sison Conlan is a proud Matador and energetic collaborator enthusiastic about her role as the President of the CSUN Alumni Association representing 400,000 alumni worldwide. Along with the Alumni Association Board of Directors and alumni chapter leaders, she is steadfast in increasing awareness and participation, creating opportunities for meaningful engagement, and developing lasting campus and community partnerships committed to CSUN excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for the Los Angeles Unified School District, she knows and understands the value of working together with others to effect positive changes. An educator at heart, she has helped many students over the years from preschool through high school with speech and language difficulties to improve their communication skills. She has served as a Program Lead, Clinical Supervisor, Master Teacher, Secondary Schools Support Therapist and Leadership Council representative. Passionate about her profession, she has taken upon several leadership and advisory roles as a member of the California Speech Language Hearing Association (CSHA) including Commissioner on Organizational Advancement and Outreach and the Annual Convention Co-Chair for statewide professional development. A seasoned clinician, Conlan is on the Editorial Board for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Perspectives magazine as a reviewer of research articles pertaining to global issues related to the field.
Before pursuing a career as an SLP, she was a bilingual elementary school teacher in a dual immersion program for Spanish and English. A former award-winning television and print journalist, she has presented in international, national, and state conferences on her doctoral research on academic reintegration after sports-related concussions.
The mother of two professional baseball athletes turned coaches (one a CSUN alum); she is involved in several community organizations and has been honored for her outstanding volunteer community service and leadership. As a former President and Distinguished Alumni awardee of the CSUN Communication Disorders and Sciences alumni chapter, she was also recognized as a Chapter Leader of the Year and received the CSUN Volunteer Service Award. Selected to be the Alumni Representative Commencement Speaker for the College of Health and Human Development a year after her Masters graduation was a thrilling highlight.
Conlan earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA in Political Science/Public Administration and remains an involved alumna of her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. A native of the Philippines, she credits her parents and siblings for instilling a devotion to lifelong learning and heartfelt generosity toward others. Grateful for her exceptional education and training at CSUN, she welcomes other Matadors to be ambassadors of the university and to answer the call for mentorship, advocacy, and philanthropy so that current and future students and alumni may fulfill their educational and professional aspirations.
