Emhoff was born in Brooklyn but raised in Matawan, New Jersey, by his parents, Mike and Barbara. His family, including siblings Jamie and Andy, moved to Los Angeles when he was a teenager. He earned a B.A. from Cal State Northridge and a J.D. from USC's Gould School of Law.
