Self-care and the Calm app

August 12, 2024

Dear College of Education Community,

As we get ready for a new academic year, I want to remind our college community at this busy time to always take care of yourselves! As one way to do this, CSUN continues to offer the Calm app for phones and computers free for all CSUN employees, including paid student assistants! In addition to short, guided meditations, this app offers specialized music playlists to help with stress and focus, mindful movement video and audio, relaxing Sleep Stories, tailored content for students and for children, wisdom-filled masterclasses led by experts, and much more. Calm app manager Zach Alpert recently presented this slideshow presentation (.pdf) at a CSUN managers meeting and shared statistics showing the benefits to overall mental health for employees who are Calm app users. Check out this data and view the directions to sign up for the Calm app at CSUN in his presentation. So if you haven’t accessed this app yet, why not check it out now and consider this wonderful way to care for yourself?

For a list of other self-care options, please see our COE self-care website for resources for faculty, staff, students, and the community at:

May you have a wonderful and “calm” beginning to the new academic year!

Warmly,

Shari
