Subramaniam is dean of the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State Northridge. He was previously a professor of accounting at the University of Texas at Arlington College of Business. Subramaniam has an undergraduate degree in physics from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, an MBA from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He was an engineer for National Semiconductor in Malaysia and director of the Northeastern Minnesota Small Business Development Center and Small Business Institute.
