Opening night for Best in Low also drew a celebratory car meet on the roof of the Petersen’s garage, where everything from a Honda Acty to a Dodge Li’l Red Express, even a couple of Harley-Davidson motorcycles pulled up in classic lowrider fashion. At the opening, I spoke with guest curator Dr. Denise Sandoval, a Professor of Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University, Northridge, who helped to coordinate the cars, bikes, memorabilia and videos that make up the exhibit.
