Dear College of Education Community,
At the beginning of each new year, we may be motivated to set new goals, make healthier choices, and commit to resolutions. These are all noble actions, especially in support of our own self-care. However, an additional approach to a new year is to be open and receptive to what lies ahead, with confidence that each of us can offer meaningful contributions by trusting ourselves as we move forward in a conscious way. When we engage in mindfulness in the present moment, we can be most aware of who we are, what is happening in our world, and how we want to act with intentionality. To quote Joseph Campbell, “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” May we all experience openness and opportunities to be aware of and share our unique gifts in the new year.
