While completing coursework for her teaching degree and licensure at California State University Northridge, she was awarded a scholarship, enabling her to work alongside very dedicated teachers who worked with migrant students, the teacher recalled. She completed coursework for the California Bilingual Teaching Credential for grades K-12.
