CSUN men’s basketball coach Andy Newman is prioritizing recruiting local talent, and his first recruiting class with the Matadors features several athletes from the Southern California area. Among them is point guard Gianni Hunt, who returns to his home roots after playing at two Division I schools. Jared Barnett and Jordan Brinson, former Westchester High School alums, have also joined the team. The transfers and incoming freshman provide a quick pace and added dimension on the court for CSUN. Newman hopes to build a program that attracts local talent in the future.
