CSUN suffered a 1-0 loss to UC Santa Barbara in a close match that was decided by a late penalty kick. Despite outshooting their opponents in the first half, CSUN couldn’t find the back of the net. UCSB had some good chances as well, with Dylan Lewis coming close in the 43rd minute. In the second half, both teams had opportunities, but it was UCSB who capitalized on a penalty kick in the dying minutes. CSUN pushed for an equalizer but couldn’t find the back of the net. CSUN Coach Christine Johnson praised her team’s efforts but acknowledged that the game could have gone either way. CSUN will now prepare to face Cal Poly on Sunday.
