CSUN loses 2-1 to Hawai’i in Big West Opener, Ashly Torres scores first career goal

CSUN’s second-half rally fell short as they were defeated 2-1 by Hawai’i in their Big West opener. Ashly Torres scored her first career goal to cut the deficit, but the Matadors were unable to make a comeback. Hayden Mauldin made a solid effort in goal with nine saves. Despite the loss, coach Christine Johnson acknowledged the positives from the match and will look to regroup for their next game against Portland State. CSUN will play their final non-conference match at home on Sunday.
