As the nation's first second gentleman, married to the first woman vice president, Emhoff was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in Matawan, N.J., by his parents, Mike and Barbara, with his siblings, Jamie and Andy. His family moved to the Los Angeles area during his teen years. Emhoff earned a bachelor of arts from California State University, Northridge and a J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. He and Harris have been married for nine years.
