When J.J. Israel unexpectedly got a phone call from the admissions office at Santa Monica College asking if she wanted to graduate in 2023, she was confused. It had been over thirty years since she finished classes at SMC before transferring to Cal State Northridge. Somehow, she said, her eligibility for graduation had gone overlooked for three decades.
