Longoria, who was born to Mexican parents in Corpus Christi, Texas, is best known for her breakout role on the television series “Desperate Housewives,” but she has supported Latino causes and projects throughout her career. She has a master’s degree in Chicano Studies from Cal State Northridge (she also has a bachelor’s of science in kinesiology from Texas A&M University-Kingsville), and has spoken at the past three Democratic National Conventions about immigration and other issues.
