Beck became the sixth president of CSUN in January 2021. She serves on the board of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and is part of the Presidents for Latino Student Success network. Before taking the helm at CSUN, Beck served four years as president of California State University – Channel Islands. Beck was also formerly a research associate at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and has conducted research in developmental psychopathology and cognitive neuroscience. In partnership with Apple Inc. and the state of California, CSUN last year distributed more than $2 million in grants for students to pursue careers in the creative and tech industries.
